Geezers and Promoters visited some schools this year.
We also put out promotional display stalls manned by Geezers with the aid of equipment supplied by the Newcastle Speedway Staff.
We were in Wallsend twice. An all dayer as guests of the Wallsend Festival, our stall had a prime location on the cordoned off High Street. Pepe supplied a bike and we all got a sun tan! We were asked by Redesdale School to take part in their summer fayre. So back to Wallsend we went. Scott Nettleship helped us with all his gear and 2 bikes, Scott is always likely to help us out and we hope he acheives his dream to get into Newcastle's Team one day.
Then came 7th August. We put on two displays on the same day. John at the Quayside as part of the sponsored abseil. Mal at Corbridge Clasic Bike Show again helped by Scott. John rushed over to Corbridge as soon as we packed up on the Quayside to see if Mal needed help. No problem there so for the first time John was able to mingle amongst the thousands of visitors at Corbridge and walk around the show ground to see the old bikes and even older friends! Alan Butterfield is a member of the Corbridge Club.
Bikewise, Aykleyheads was another excellent chance to talk speedway to thousands of people. Andrew came along with us and we all mucked in. Craig Connon supplied his bike for Bikewise. Thanks Craig, you are a Diamond Geezer mate!
John wants to hear from anyone with a cheapish bike to sell. An upright will be great! We could use it for displays instead of hoping that the riders will be able to come with their bikes.
